Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says the club will do anything to keep striker Robin Van Persie at the club.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that the club will do everything in their power to keep captain Robin van Persie at the club.

The Holland striker scored twice - the second in added time - to snatch a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

The 28-year-old, whose contract expires in 2013, will not open negotiations until this summer. The striker is the Gunners' top goalscorer this season with 25 goals so far and Wenger has now admitted that Arsenal will do anything to keep him at The Emirates.

"We will do anything possible to keep him," said Wenger.

"I cannot say much more because I have said that many times. I am very proud that he has grown, having seen the boy arrive here timid and today being the player he is and the leader of the team he has become.

"He is playing under big pressure in every game because he knows he has to score - that is excellent development not only as a player but as a human being.

"He is up there among the best players in the world."

Van Persie joined Arsenal in 2004 from Dutch side Feyenoord.
