Jack Wilshere defends recent Arsenal form

Jack Wilshere claims that some of the criticism of Arsenal's form has been over the top this season.

Jack Wilshere has claimed that some of the criticism aimed at Arsenal in recent weeks has been unwarranted.

The Gunners have won just once in eight Premier League games this season, but Wilshere believes that Arsene Wenger's side are performing well enough to suggest that they are closing in on their best form.

"I think it's unfair," the England midfielder replied when asked by reporters about the accusation that Arsenal have underperformed early in the new campaign.

"Maybe we haven't got the results we wanted in some games, where we drew when we should have won the game. But if you look back through the games like we do, there is a lot of positive stuff.

"OK, we need more points than we have in the table, but going forward we are in a confident place that we can get the points we need."

Arsenal take on Anderlecht in the Champions League on Wednesday.
