Liverpool assistant Zeljko Buvac 'agrees to succeed Arsene Wenger'

Zeljko Buvac, who stepped down as Liverpool's assistant manager on Monday, has reportedly already agreed to take over as Arsenal boss.

Zeljko Buvac reportedly stepped down from his position as Liverpool's assistant manager so that he can take over as Arsenal boss from this summer.

The 56-year-old brought an end to his long-running association with Jurgen Klopp on Monday when it was announced that he has left his job at Anfield.

Liverpool did not explain the reasons behind why Buvac, who has worked alongside Klopp since 2001, had taken the decision to temporarily depart, simply putting it down to "personal reasons".

In a surprise twist, however, Bosnian outlet Pravda BL reports that Buvac will not return to Liverpool as he has already agreed to replace Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.

Buvac is credited with devising Klopp's favoured 'gegenpressing' tactic and has also previously worked alongside the German at Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund.
