Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants a "zero tolerance" approach to racist incidents on the pitch.

Arsene Wenger has insisted that there should be a "zero tolerance" approach towards racism but thinks there is no deep-rooted problem within the game.

John Terry and Luis Suarez are both currently under investigation for alleged racial abuse, while FIFA president Sepp Blatter has caused a stir for suggesting that such abuse should be solved with a handshake.

"I am against any discrimination," said Wenger. "I am for zero tolerance, on the pitch and off the pitch, in the stands, where there is still a lot of work to do in England on that front.

"I believe there is still sometimes bad remarks, but overall in my sport there is no deep racial problem."

The Gunners boss added that players are in a position to demonstrate to the world that racism should not be tolerated.

"Sport has a fantastic chance and a fantastic opportunity. Football is a worldwide sport watched all over the world and we have a massive responsibility in that. Sport can be an example for society."
