Arsenal are allegedly contemplating whether to make an approach for Isco, who was released by Sevilla earlier this week.

Arsenal are reportedly giving consideration to making an approach for Isco, who is available on a free transfer.

The Gunners are currently preparing to resume their bid to win the Premier League title, with Mikel Arteta's side holding a five-point advantage over the World Cup break.

However, the top-flight leaders will be active during the January window, partly due to the knee injury sustained by forward Gabriel Jesus.

While there is now a particular focus on securing the services of an alternative frontman, it has been long been suggested that Arteta will also move for a fresh face in midfield.

As it stands, Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all options in that area of the pitch, although the latter may be allowed to depart the Emirates Stadium at the midway point of the campaign.

Should that prove to be the case, Arteta may insist on signing a like-for-like replacement, but it appears that consideration is being given to a more attack-minded player.

According to Fichajes, Arteta could make insist on moving for Isco now that a transfer fee will not be involved.

The 30-year-old ended his time at Real Madrid in the summer to move to Sevilla, where it was expected that he would spend the next period of his career.

Instead, a change in head coach and fallout behind the scenes have led to Isco being released from his contract, despite 18 months still being left to run.

Isco still made 15 starts and three substitute outings for the Spanish side, contributing one goal and three assists in La Liga and the Champions League.

The payer is not expected to be short of offers from his homeland, where he has spent his entire career, and abroad at the turn of the year.

Earlier this month, it was alleged that Wolverhampton Wanderers were contemplating a move for Isco, although it remains to be seen whether that will still be the case given the expected addition of Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha.

Meanwhile, the report adds that Juventus are monitoring the situation at a time when the Italian giants are contemplating a number of incomings and outgoings.
