Arsenal enter negotiations with Barcelona over a potential deal for Brazilian goalkeeper Neto, according to a report.

Arsenal have reportedly entered negotiations with Barcelona over a potential deal for Brazilian goalkeeper Neto.

Mikel Arteta's side will be without their first-choice number one Bernd Leno for several weeks after the German was forced off on a stretcher in Arsenal's defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last Saturday.

As a result, Arsenal are supposedly looking at a number of potential short-term replacements for Leno, with Burnley's Joe Hart touted as a possible signing with his contract at Turf Moor about to expire.

However, according to reports in Spain, Arteta has identified Barca's Neto as a priority signing, and the Gunners have begun talks with Quique Setien's side over a possible deal.

The report claims that the Catalan giants are hoping to ship out the 30-year-old permanently for a fee of €20m (£18m), but Arsenal would prefer a loan deal with an option to buy next summer.

Neto has played second fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen for the majority of the 2019-20 campaign, making only one La Liga appearance for Barcelona this season.
