Arsenal, Liverpool target Max Meyer to join Bayern Munich?

A report claims that Schalke 04 midfielder Max Meyer is to remain in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, despite strong interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Schalke 04 midfielder Max Meyer has reportedly rejected interest from Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool to instead join Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at the Veltins-Arena at the end of the season and is understood to have attracted interest from a number of clubs.

Arsenal were said to have been weighing up a January bid for the Germany international, only to instead focus on bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, while Liverpool are also keen after missing out on Leon Goretzka.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, however, Meyer will remain in the Bundesliga for the time being as he sees his future with champions and current pacesetters Bayern.

The Bavarians also recently agreed terms to take fellow free agent Goretzka later this year, dealing Arsenal and Liverpool a separate transfer blow in the process.
