The form of deputy goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez reportedly results in Arsenal shelving plans to sign a new stopper during the next transfer window.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will reportedly keep stand-in goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez at the Emirates Stadium for at least another 12 months.

Having never been regarded as first-choice stopper during his nine-year stay with the Gunners, Martinez was expected to be sold during the next window.

However, since Bernd Leno's season-ending injury in June, Martinez has impressed between the sticks, conceding just two goals from five matches.

According to The Mirror, Arteta is no longer contemplating alternatives to the 27-year-old ahead of the next campaign.

Although Leno may be fit for the beginning of next season, Arteta is happy for Martinez to provide competition for the established number one.

Despite his recent run in the starting lineup, the Argentine has still only made 26 outings for Arsenal in all competitions.
