Jordan Henderson and Liverpool in contract stand-off?

Liverpool reportedly face a battle to keep Jordan Henderson at Anfield after failing to agree a new contract with the midfielder and prospective future captain.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly facing a struggle to keep Jordan Henderson at the club beyond the end of his current deal.

The 24-year-old, who has captained the Reds on several occasions this season in the absence of Steven Gerrard, has just over a year to run on his existing contract.

However, The Mirror claims that no talks have taken place between the parties since Henderson turned down an £80,000-a-week offer from the club's hierarchy three months ago.

Liverpool were thought to be offering Henderson a pay rise of £15,000 a week to try to keep the ex-Sunderland star within the current salary boundaries at Anfield.

While Manchester City and Arsenal are rumoured to be sniffing around the England midfielder, it is understood that Henderson, who has scored twice in as many games, is not keen on leaving the club.
