Martin Keown: 'Arsenal need experience up front'

Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes that Arsene Wenger should sign an experienced striker following the long-term injury to Olivier Giroud.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has spoken of the club's need to sign an experienced striker by insisting that the club's fans shouldn't have to "wait for a youngster" to break through.

Olivier Giroud suffered a broken foot in the 2-2 draw against Everton last week, leading to speculation on whether Arsene Wenger will sign a replacement up front.

Keown told BBC Sport: "He probably should [sign a striker].

"It would not be good news for Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell, but he did something similar when Ian Wright was let go and he bought Nicolas Anelka.

"The Arsenal fans do not want to wait for a youngster to be ready."

Wenger has previously admitted that he 'doesn't know' whether he will sign a new striker.
