Bayer Leverkusen: 'Javier Hernandez not for sale'

Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director insists that star striker Javier Hernandez is not for sale this month amid reported interest from Arsenal.

Bayer Leverkusen have insisted that star striker Javier Hernandez is not for sale in the mid-season transfer window amid reported interest from Arsenal.

The 27-year-old has been in his best ever form since his summer switch to the Bundesliga from Manchester United, scoring 19 goals in 22 appearance in all competitions and being voted the division's player of the month twice in a row.

Speaking about the rumours of Arsenal's interest, Bayer sporting director Rudi Voller said that it was "easy to reject offers" from any clubs that came calling for Hernandez.

"We are a football club and it is important that we are successful," said Voller. "Chicharito has played a big part in our success so far, through his style of play, through his goals. That's why we brought him here. In the first half of the season, everything has worked out fine.

"It's easy to reject offers when you are in a position in which you don't need to sell. We are in such a position. We will keep the players we want to help us achieve our goals."

At the midpoint of the campaign, Bayer sit fifth in the table, two points off the Champions League places.
