Arsene Wenger: 'I know my transfer targets'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that his squad is "short" and already knows the new faces he needs to bring in next month.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he needs to strengthen in the January transfer market as the side look to win their first league title in 12 years.

The Gunners sit second in the Premier League going into tonight's crunch clash with fellow title contenders Manchester City despite their lengthy injury list which includes Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky.

Speaking to beIN Sports at the weekend, Wenger conceded that the loss of high-profile faces means that he will need to spend in his notoriously unfavoured mid-season window, but he added that he already has his targets in mind.

"Yes, we are short and the number of games we have to play in January are very important," the Frenchman said.

"God knows how we will come out of the Christmas period, with a lot of demand on the physical front so we need to do something. I would love to give you names, downstairs on the bar with a coffee but not in front of your camera."

Reports have suggested that the Gunners' targets include Leicester City's £29m winger Riyad Mahrez, Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, Paris Saint-Germain's unsettled midfielder Adrien Rabiot and Bayer Leverkusen's prolific frontman Javier Hernandez.
