Max Meyer cancels Schalke 04 talks

Schalke 04 president Clemens Tonnies reveals that a meeting regarding a new deal for Max Meyer was cancelled, with the midfielder still a target for Premier League clubs.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich have seemingly been given a boost in the race to sign Schalke 04 midfielder Max Meyer.

The three European giants are all said to be targeting a move for the Germany international, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Schalke are still attempting to extend the 22-year-old's stay at the Bundesliga side, but president Clemens Tonnies has revealed that a meeting involving both parties was recently cancelled.

Clemens told Bild: "I had an appointment with Max and his advisor, which was cancelled by his agent on short notice.

"If someone doesn't want to talk to me, I cannot change that."

Meyer remains a regular in the Schalke side, with 27 appearances being made in all competitions during the current campaign.
