Mauricio Pochettino denies Southampton interest in Diego

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino denies claims that he is interested in signing Wolfsburg playmaker Diego.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has denied being interested in signing Wolfsburg playmaker Diego.

The 28-year-old Brazil international had claimed that numerous English clubs, including the Saints and Arsenal, were keen on securing his services.

Pochettino told the Daily Echo: "Of course we know of him, as we know of any other players. But that piece of news doesn't make any sense, because Southampton is not interested in him.

"We have also seen this news in Spanish media, so I don't really know where these rumours come from."

Diego has scored one Bundesliga goal in 12 appearances this season.
