Report: Arsenal seeking Nacho Monreal replacement

Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico is reportedly on Unai Emery's radar as Arsenal look to bring in a new left-back.

Arsenal have identified Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico as a long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal, according to a report.

The Gunners were forced to play right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner out of position for Monday's 3-1 win over Leicester City as Monreal missed out through injury.

With Sead Kolasinac and makeshift full-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles also on the sidelines, Unai Emery had to turn to his fourth-choice option in that troublesome position.

Calciomercato suggests that Emery is concerned about a lack of obvious stand-in replacements if ageing Spaniard Monreal misses any more games.

Tagliafico is said to be a target, having been watched up close by Arsenal chiefs in the past, but the 10-cap Argentina international only joined Ajax at the turn of the year and is under contract until 2022.
