Report: Atletico Madrid step up Santi Cazorla interest

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is to be the subject of a transfer bid by Atletico Madrid in the coming weeks, according to a report.

Atletico Madrid will reportedly test Arsenal's resolve by making an official approach for midfielder Santi Cazorla.

The Spaniard enjoyed a fine campaign at the Emirates Stadium last time out, scoring seven goals and recording a further 11 assists in all competitions.

Atletico have been linked with a move for the 30-year-old in the past, but according to The Express they are now ready to up their interest by making a bid.

Cazorla is said to be seen as the ideal replacement for Arda Turan, who has been widely tipped for a move to La Liga rivals Barcelona.

Only Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud scored more goals for Arsenal last season than Cazorla.
