Report: Chelsea to hijack Arsenal's Sami Khedira move

Chelsea are poised to rival Arsenal for the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, according to reports.

Chelsea are reportedly poised to hijack Arsenal's pursuit of Real Madrid ace Sami Khedira this summer.

The Gunners are said to be keen on following up the £30m signing of Alexis Sanchez with the Germany international, who has a year remaining on his Blancos deal.

However, Khedira's wage demands of £150k per week are thought to be a primary deterrent in Arsenal prolonging their interest and, according to The Mirror, Chelsea are happy to satisfy his salary requests.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho, who brought the 27-year-old to the Spanish capital back in 2010, is believed to be keen on reuniting with his former player and could use Ramires as a makeweight in the prospective deal.

Khedira is poised to be involved as Germany take on Argentina in the final of the World Cup on Sunday night.
