Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal could reportedly go head to head for the signature of Napoli forward Dries Mertens during this summer's transfer window.
The 33-year-old signed a new deal with the Italian giants last June, and he has been a regular during the 2020-21 campaign, making 30 outings in all competitions, contributing nine goals and eight assists in the process.
However, according to Voetbal 24, the Serie A outfit are keen to move Mertens off their wage bill this summer.
The report claims that North London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal are both interested in bringing the Belgium international to the Premier League in the upcoming market.
Mertens has scored eight times and registered seven assists in 21 Serie A appearances this term, but he has struggled with an ankle problem during stages of the season.
The attacker has managed 134 goals and 86 assists in 352 outings for Napoli since joining the club from PSV Eindhoven in 2013.
