Robin van Persie slams reports that he wants to leave Arsenal for Real Madrid.

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has rubbished reports suggesting that he wants to join Spanish outfit Real Madrid.

Van Persie, who was reported to have said that he would be "excited" to sign for the European giants but that Arsenal would not be willing to negotiate, has since dismissed the reports as false.

"Contrary to reports in Spain I have NEVER spoken to Marca newspaper and never gave any interview. Enjoy your day," he wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that neither Real Madrid nor world champions Barcelona have been in contact with the club concerning the Dutch forward.

Van Persie has scored 88 goals in 180 appearances for Arsenal since arriving at the club in 2004.
