Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has described his side's 4-2 win at Manchester City in the third round of the League Cup as a "massive result".
The English champions twice led in normal time with goals from Mario Balotelli and Aleksandar Kolarov. However, Gabriel Agbonlahor equalised with a pacy solo effort on 70 minutes before he and Charles N'Zogbia completed the turnaround in extra time.
"It was a massive result for us, really huge, but I think the way we played was excellent, right from the off," said Lambert. "I think we have been playing really well since the Tranmere game [on August 28].
"We played well against Newcastle, we were excellent against Swansea and for 45 minutes on Saturday [against Southampton] I thought we played really well.
"You get games like that where you can't put your finger on why the second half went the way it did. It was a brilliant response from the team. I thought they were excellent."
Villa host Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.
