Christian Benteke pleased to end goal drought

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke says that he is keen to end the season in goalscoring form.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has said that he is keen to end the season in goalscoring form, after finding the back of the net twice against Norwich City on Sunday.

The Belgian took his tally to nine goals in the league by hitting a double during his side's 4-1 win over the Canaries.

Villa had failed to find the back of the net in their three previous league fixtures, and Benteke was delighted that he could inspire the team to three crucial points.

"It's good," The Mirror quotes him as saying. "I hope now I'm going to keep my level up until the end.

"I'm very happy because I scored, but it is not just about scoring. It's more important to take the three points because we started really badly to be honest.

"But after their goal we came back well into the game and played some great football. I think we showed some great character and everybody took responsibility."

Benteke joined Villa from Genk in 2012, and scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season.
