Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi out to shock Manchester United

Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi insists that his side can cause an upset against Manchester United.

Jordan Amavi has insisted that Aston Villa can shock Manchester United in the Premier League on Friday.

The Villans play their first home match of the season tomorrow night after beating Bournemouth on the opening day.

While admitting that United are favourites to win the game at Villa Park, summer signing Amavi believes that the hosts can cause an upset against Louis van Gaal's side.

"It is a huge match," the Frenchman told the club's official website. "I am going to give it everything I have got. I can't wait.

"I wanted to come to the Premier League because I think it's the best in the world. But these games against the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City, these are the great matches and I am delighted to have the chance to be part of them.

"Man Utd is a very good team. They have recruited a lot of very good players. Some will say Man Utd are favourites - but we want to prove them wrong! We really would love to do that."

Amavi joined Aston Villa from Nice in July for a reported fee of £9m.
