Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Aston Villa.
Dean Smith left Brentford to become the new manager of Villa earlier this season, and it appears that the former Bees boss is keen on a reunion with one of his previous players.
According to Sky Sports News, Villa will make an approach for the 27-year-old during the January window as they look to boost their chances of promotion to the Premier League.
Sawyers - who also played under Smith at fellow West Midlands side Walsall - has just over 18 months remaining on his contract and is regarded as one of Brentford's biggest assets.
The Saint Kitts and Nevis international has started in 23 of Brentford's 24 games in the Championship this season.
