Marseille 'want Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi'

A report claims that French outfit Marseille will move for Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi in the January transfer window.

Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi is reportedly a January transfer target for French side Marseille.

Amavi, 22, missed the majority of the 2015-16 campaign with a serious knee injury, but has made 12 appearances for Championship outfit Villa this season.

Head coach Steve Bruce is reportedly keen for the club to reject any bids that might arrive for the left-back, but according to L'Equipe, Marseille are confident of enticing the France Under-21 international to Ligue 1.

Villa, who are currently 16th in the Championship table, parted with £9m to sign Amavi from Nice in the summer of 2015 and the full-back still has four years left to run on his current contract.
