Aston Villa fail with bid for Crystal Palace's Dwight Gayle?

Crystal Palace turn down an offer from Aston Villa for Dwight Gayle, according to a report.

Crystal Palace have reportedly turned down a bid from Aston Villa for striker Dwight Gayle.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park after falling down the pecking order under Alan Pardew.

Bristol City were said to be interested in signing the frontman, but he reportedly turned down a switch to Ashton Gate after the Robins had a bid accepted.

According to Sky Sports News, Villa have lodged a bid for Gayle, but Palace have dismissed the offer because it is nowhere near their valuation.

Gayle has scored 20 goals in 56 appearances for Palace since joining from Peterborough United in 2013.
