Saturday's Major League Soccer predictions including Inter Miami vs. New York Red Bulls

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Major League Soccer fixtures, including Inter Miami vs. New York Red Bulls.

Atlanta vs. Minnesota Utd (Sunday, 12.30am)

Atlanta United celebrates after midfielder Saba Lobjanidze (9) scores a goal on September 3, 2023© Reuters

Two sides currently in contrasting form go head to head in the MLS as Atlanta United play host to Minnesota United at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday.

While the Five Stripes will be seeking to snap their four-match winless run, the visitors set out in search of a third win on the bounce as they look to move top of the Western Conference table.

We say: Atlanta United 1-1 Minnesota United

Minnesota have hit their stride once again and will head into the weekend with sky-high confidence as they take on an out-of-sorts Atlanta side. However, the Five Stripes have been solid at home this season and we see them holding out for another share of the spoils.

Charlotte FC vs. Portland (Sunday, 12.30am)

Charlotte FC will be keen to avoid a third consecutive defeat when Portland Timbers come visiting the Bank of America Stadium on Saturday.

For the away side, securing a first win in eight matches will be the major objective as they look to get their MLS campaign back on track.

We say: Charlotte FC 2-1 Portland Timbers

Both Charlotte and Portland Timbers have struggled in recent outings and this weekend's clash represents a perfect opportunity for the teams to return to winning ways. We are tipping the home side to come out on top, albeit by only a narrow margin.

DC United vs. Philadelphia (Sunday, 12.30am)

Gameweek 11 of the 2024 Major League Soccer season sees DC United and Philadelphia Union go head to head at Audi Field on Sunday morning.

The hosts head into this one off the back of a first win in four matches last time out, while their visitors set out to avoid a third straight defeat.

We say: DC United 2-1 Philadelphia Union

There is little separating the teams heading into this one and Sunday's clash could easily head either way. That said, we just about back the home side to emerge victorious in the end.

Inter Miami vs. NY Red Bulls (Sunday, 12.30am)

Inter Miami CF midfielder Diego Gomez (20) reacts with teammates on February 22, 2024© Reuters

Two of the top three teams in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS) will square off on Saturday as Inter Miami host the New York Red Bulls at Chase Stadium.

A 4-1 victory over the New England Revolution has the Herons at the top of the Supporters Shield standings with 21 points, four more than the Red Bulls, who are third in the conference following a 1-1 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps.

We say: Inter Miami 4-2 New York Red Bulls

The Red Bulls embarrassed Miami when they squared off in March, and that will likely be in the back of the minds of the Herons when they take the field on Saturday, and we believe that added motivation will power Messi and company to another big victory.

Orlando City vs. Cincinnati (Sunday, 12.30am)

Off the back of a first defeat in five matches last time out, Orlando City will be looking to bounce back when they welcome FC Cincinnati to the Exploria Stadium on Sunday.

Cincinnati, on the other hand, head to Florida this weekend in search of a third consecutive victory to continue their recent upturn in form.

We say: Orlando City 1-0 FC Cincinnati

Goals have been hard to come by in this fixture and we expect another drab affair this weekend. That said, we can also see the home side coming out on top at the sound of the final whistle.

Earthquakes vs. Los Angeles (Sunday, 12.30am)

Fresh from snapping a four-game losing streak last time out, San Jose Earthquakes will do battle against Los Angeles FC at the PayPal Park on Saturday.

The visitors, meanwhile, will be looking to make it back to back triumphs for the first time this season having returned to winning ways in their most recent involvement.

We say: San Jose Earthquakes 1-1 Los Angeles FC

Both teams have had their defensive woes of late, and we expect neither to come away with a clean sheet here. We are also backing a share of the spoils with honours even at the end of 90 minutes.

Toronto vs. Dallas (Sunday, 12.30am)

Toronto FC head coach John Herdman yells on February 24, 2024© Reuters

Toronto have a chance to win three successive MLS fixtures for the first time since 2020 with a victory over Dallas on Saturday at BMO Field.

The Reds scored twice in the latter stages of their previous encounter versus Orlando City to claim a 2-1 victory, moving up to fourth in the Eastern Conference, while the Toros are 13th in the West despite a 2-0 triumph over the Houston Dynamo.

We say: Toronto 1-0 Dallas

Toronto have been a lot better in close games this season and are getting some great performances out of Sean Johnson in goal, so we expect them to shut down a side in Dallas that are struggling to unlock opposing defensive units.

Chicago Fire vs. New England (Sunday, 1.30am)

Chicago Fire FC midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri (10) celebrates on March 3, 2024© Reuters

Two of the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference's early strugglers will meet this Saturday as Chicago Fire hosts New England Revolution.

Both teams must start picking up points and more positive results, particularly for the visitors who sit bottom of the league.

We say: Chicago Fire 1-1 New England Revolution

Neither team heads into this weekend with much confidence due to how they have started this season, and that could lead to a cautious performance from them.

While they each need to start picking up three points sooner than later, it would not be a surprise to see them play out to a draw.

Houston vs. St Louis City (Sunday, 1.30am)

Houston Dynamo FC head coach Ben Olsen looks on on March 24, 2024© Reuters

The two sides currently holding down the final two playoff positions in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS) will face each other on Saturday as St Louis City pay a visit to Shell Energy Stadium for a date with the Houston Dynamo.

Orange Crush are eighth in the conference despite suffering a 2-0 defeat at Dallas, with St Louis moving to within a point of Houston following a 3-3 draw versus Sporting Kansas City.

We say: Houston Dynamo 3-1 St Louis City

While they have improved in many areas of the field, St Louis still allow their share of scoring opportunities, and that could benefit the Dynamo on Saturday.

Nashville vs. Montreal (Sunday, 1.30am)

Nashville SC midfielder Dru Yearwood (16) celebrates on March 10, 2024© Reuters

Nashville SC can end a five-match MLS winless run on Saturday when they welcome CF Montreal to GEODIS Park in the 10th match of the regular season for both clubs.

The Boys and Gold failed to hang onto an early advantage last weekend, playing to a 1-1 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes, while Le CFM held the Columbus Crew to a 0-0 result.

We say: Nashville SC 1-0 CF Montreal

The return of Zimmerman should drastically improve the Nashville backline, but even without him, we believe they will be able to shut down a Montreal attack missing plenty of key pieces and who tend to sustain a lot more pressure away from home, something the Boys in Gold can take advantage of.

Salt Lake vs. Kansas (Sunday, 2.30am)

Real Salt Lake midfielder Andres Gomez (11) celebrates on March 10, 2024© Reuters

Real Salt Lake will host Sporting Kansas City this weekend, looking to remain top of the Major League Soccer Western Conference.

The visitors are going through a difficult patch of form and shall be focused on returning to winning ways after four matches without a win.

We say: Real Salt Lake 2-0 Sporting Kansas City

Both teams head into this game with opposing form, and that is something that does favour Real Salt Lake considering their recent performances.

With the visitors struggling in front of goal when playing away from home, this fixture could end up being a tough one for them.

Vancouver vs. Austin (Sunday, 3.30am)

Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Sam Adekugbe (3) celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal on October 29, 2023© Reuters

In a matchup between one of the hottest teams in Major League Soccer (MLS) and one of the top teams in the Western Conference, Austin FC will travel to BC Place Stadium on Saturday to battle the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Caps are third in the Western Conference following a 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls, putting them two points above Austin, who have won four of their last five games, defeating the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-0 last weekend.

We say: Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 Austin FC

Having Cubas back should add some stability to the midfield and enable the Caps to neutralize Austin in transition, as his ability to recuperate balls is among the best in the league, and we believe that will enable the Caps' potent attack to have an edge.
