Atletico Madrid skipper Gabi hopeful over Diego Simeone

Atletico Madrid captain Gabi is confident that Diego Simeone will remain at the Vicente Calderon as long as the team continues to fight for the Argentine.

Atletico Madrid skipper Gabi is hopeful that Diego Simeone will remain as head coach of the capital club, despite a host of speculation surrounding the Argentine.

It is understood that Chelsea are desperate for Simeone to become their new boss this summer as they prepare to replace interim boss Guus Hiddink.

The 45-year-old has also been linked with Inter Milan, but Gabi is confident that Simeone will remain at the Vicente Calderon as long as the team continue to fight for the cause.

"Hopefully [Diego] Simeone doesn't leave anytime soon. He'll only go when the team stop responding to him," Gabi told Marca.

Simeone has won five major trophies during his time in the Atletico hotseat, including the La Liga title in 2014.
