Diego Costa declares himself fit for Friday

Diego Costa declares himself fit for Atletico Madrid's league clash with Elche on Friday.

Diego Costa has claimed that he will be fit for Atletico Madrid's league clash with Elche on Friday.

The Spanish international departed the field in the latter stages of his side's 2-0 win over Getafe last night after colliding with the post.

Pictures of the 26-year-old's leg showed that he had suffered a nasty gash, but it is understood that the forward was fit enough to join his teammates towards the end of a training session earlier today.

When questioned on his fitness for Friday, Costa told AS: "Yes, of course I'll play."

Costa has scored 34 times in all competitions for Atletico this season.
