Sergio pleased with Espanyol

Espanyol boss Sergio believes that set pieces were the difference between his team and Atletico Madrid in their La Liga clash.

Espanyol boss Sergio has claimed that his side were unlucky to lose against Atletico Madrid on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Tiago and Mario Suarez handed the home side a 2-0 win in the La Liga clash, with both goals coming from set pieces.

"We stood up to Atletico but we were overcome on the set pieces," he told AS.

"I don't know if Atletico can win the league. The truth is I was watching my team.

"We wanted to avoid silly mistakes but there were mistakes that could have been avoided."

The defeat was Espanyol's first in five league games.
