Atletico Madrid have earmarked Napoli attacker Dries Mertens as a potential replacement for Antoine Griezmann, according to reports.
The Belgium international has enjoyed a superb start to the season, scoring 10 goals and registering three assists in just 12 Serie A games.
Although Griezmann has failed to hit the heights of previous campaigns this time around, he remains on the radar of some of Europe's top clubs.
According to Spanish news outlet AS, the Atletico board have decided to move for Mertens if Griezmann leaves the Wanda Metropolitano after the World Cup.
Mertens enjoyed the most productive season of his career last term, scoring 28 goals in 35 games.
