Half-Time Report: Paul Verhaegh hits back for Augsburg

Augsburg come back from going a goal behind to go in level with Hannover at the break.

Augsburg have recovered from going a goal down against relegation-threatened Hannover to go in level at 1-1 at half time at the Impuls Arena.

The visitors could have taken an early lead when Salif Sane's cushioned header from a set piece was met by Leon Andreasen, but the former Fulham man could only send his effort over the bar.

Sane then had an effort of his own blocked after collecting Edgar Prib's pass, before the visitors took the lead midway through the half.

The goal came when Lars Stindl fired home from inside the box after some good work down the wing by Jimmy Briand.

However, Augsburg were level just six minutes later when Paul Verhaegh converted from the spot after Hiroki Sakai had sent Abdul Baba tumbling in the box.
