How Barcelona could line up against Lyon

Sports Mole takes a look at how Barcelona could line up in Wednesday's Champions League clash against Lyon.

Barcelona will welcome Lyon to Camp Nou on Wednesday night for the second leg of their round-of-16 match in the Champions League.

The tie is delicately poised following a goalless draw in the first leg last month, with Lyon giving a good account of themselves on home soil.

Barca have not won this competition since 2015 and have lost at the quarter-final stage in each of the last three seasons, which will be in the back of their minds entering Wednesday's clash at Camp Nou.

The Catalan giants will enter the match off the back of a 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano in the league, while Lyon were held by Strasbourg.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how Barca could line up in front of their own supporters in the European tie.

POSS BAR XI vs. LYON

Out: Rafinha (knee), Thomas Vermaelen (muscle)

Rafinha and Thomas Vermaelen remain unavailable for selection for Barca, with the former a long-term absentee due to knee surgery and the latter still struggling with a muscular issue.

Ivan Rakitic and Ousmane Dembele started Saturday's league clash with Rayo on the bench, but the pair are expected to return to the XI on Wednesday night with Philippe Coutinho and Arturo Vidal dropping to the bench.

Clement Lenglet is back from a domestic ban, meanwhile, and is expected to get the nod over Samuel Umtiti at centre-back as the latter is still working his way back to full fitness following a knee problem.

Elsewhere, Nelson Semedo could get the nod over Sergi Roberto at right-back. Valverde does not have any fresh injury concerns, though, and there will be no surprises as Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi both prepare to start.
