Dani Alves, Thomas Vermaelen train with Barcelona

Dani Alves and Thomas Vermaelen both train with Barcelona ahead of their Champions League clash against APOEL on Wednesday, but neither is expected to take part.

Dani Alves and Thomas Vermaelen have both trained with Barcelona ahead of their Champions League clash against APOEL on Wednesday evening.

Alves missed the 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao at the weekend with a muscular problem, while Vermaelen, who joined from Arsenal this summer, is yet to feature for his new club.

Despite their presence in training, it is understood that neither will be risked for the Catalan outfit's Champions League group opener at the Camp Nou.

Martin Montoya is expected to continue at right-back in place of Alves.
