Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is named on the bench for their final Champions League group match against Benfica at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has been named among the substitutes for their final Champions League group match against Benfica at the Camp Nou.

The Argentine is just one goal away from equalling Gerd Muller's record of 85 goals in a calendar year.

A number of senior figures have been left out of Barca's squad altogether, including Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas.

The Catalans are already through to the next round, but Benfica must match Celtic's result against Spartak Moscow if they are to progress.

Barcelona: Pinto; Montoya, Puyol, Adriano, Planas; Thiago, Song; Sergi Roberto; Tello, Rafinha, Villa
Subs: Valdes, Pique, Gomez, Dos Santos, Busquets, Gerard, Messi

Benfica: Artur; Luisao, Pereira, Garay; Matic, Gomes, Melgarejo, Nolito; Lima, John, Rodrigo
Subs: Lopes, Luisinho, Vieira, Cesar, Gaitan, Almeida, Cardozo
