Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Getafe

Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's La Liga clash with Getafe.

Barcelona will be looking to return to winning ways in Spain's top flight when they continue their 2020-21 campaign away to Getafe on Saturday night.

The Catalan giants - currently fifth in the table - started their La Liga season with successive wins over Villarreal and Celta Vigo, scoring seven times and conceding none.

Ronald Koeman's side were held to a 1-1 draw by Sevilla in their last match before the international break, though, and will be keen to put another three points on the board this weekend.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barca's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Getafe, who have collected seven points from their first four matches of the season.

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Getafe)

Junior Firpo has missed Barca's last two matches with a hamstring problem, and he is actually still waiting for his first minutes of the 2020-21 campaign. The 24-year-old has made progress in his recovery but is still viewed as a minor doubt for his team's fourth La Liga match of the season.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is yet to feature for Barca this season after undergoing a knee operation in August. The Germany international is expected to be back in training before the end of the month, although it is unclear when the goalkeeper might be available to make a first-team return.

Samuel Umtiti

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Getafe)

Samuel Umtiti, who was strongly linked with a move away from Camp Nou over the summer, is yet to feature this season due to ongoing knee problems. The central defender has not yet been officially ruled out of this weekend's contest, although it would be a surprise to see him feature.

Jordi Alba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Barca will be without the services of Jordi Alba this weekend, with the club's first-choice left-back tearing his hamstring in the 1-1 draw with Sevilla last time out. There have been suggestions that the defender could return before the end of the month, although it remains to be seen when he is cleared by the medical team.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barca have no players suspended for this weekend's contest and will be able to recall central defender Clement Lenglet, who served a one-game ban against Sevilla on October 4.
