Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Real Sociedad

Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's La Liga clash with Real Sociedad.

Barcelona will be hoping to continue their fine recent run of form when they travel to face Real Sociedad in La Liga on Saturday.

The Catalan giants fielded a weakened team in their final Champions League group game - a dead-rubber for them as confirmed group winners - but still overcame Inter Milan 2-1 to extend their winning run to six matches across all competitions.

Barca boss Ernesto Valverde will hope the rest for a number of his key players will give them the boost they need to carry their good form into the next game and go into their crucial La Liga El Clasico on a high.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barca's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the match.

Jordi Alba

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: December 18 (vs. Real Madrid)

The left-back has returned to training as he recovers from a recurring hamstring problem. He is not likely to be rushed back into action, however, and will likely be given time to build his fitness back up again.

Nelson Semedo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: December 18 (vs. Real Madrid)

The Portuguese right-back, like Alba, has also returned to training but is unlikely to be risked until El Clasico at the earliest.

Ousmane Dembele

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Getafe)

The French winger was ruled out for 10 weeks after sustaining a thigh injury in the 3-1 win over former club Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League at the end of last month and is not set to return until mid-February.

Arthur

Status: Out
Type of injury: Adductor
Possible return date: Unknown

Arthur remains sidelined and no time frame has been provided on his return, with his absence allowing a number of squad players the opportunity to impress in midfield.
