Andres Iniesta an injury doubt for Spain's upcoming fixtures

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta will miss a part of Spain's training camp in the coming days as a result of a calf injury.

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is a doubt for Spain's friendly against Costa Rica next week due to a muscular injury picked up on club duty.

The 31-year-old, who played a key role in the Catalan club's Champions League final triumph on Saturday night, will miss a part of the 2010 World Cup winner's training camp.

Iniesta was able to play 77 minutes of Barcelona's 3-1 victory over Juventus, despite being a doubt heading into the match because of a calf strain, although he may now sit out Spain's upcoming games.

"The FC Barcelona and Juventus players who took part in the Champions League final had permission to join the Spain squad on Monday 8th [June] at 6pm," a statement from the Spanish Football Federation read.

"Jordi Alba, [Marc] Bartra, [Sergio] Busquets, Pedro and [Gerard] Pique, as well as [Alvaro] Morata will arrive to Las Rozas where they look to take part in practice at 7:30pm.

"Midfielder Andres Iniesta will not take part on Monday 8th June. The Medical Services of the Spanish National Team have taken the decision that the muscular discomfort suffered by the player throughout the past week are sufficient for him to miss practice."

Spain face Belarus in a Euro 2016 qualifier three days after taking on Costa Rica.
