Cesc Fabregas is confident that he will be fit to play in Spain's opening Euro 2012 match against Italy on June 10.

Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas has received a boost in his race to be fit for his side's Euro 2012 opener against Italy on June 10.

Fabregas, 25, suffered a hamstring injury after coming on for the last 10 minutes of Barcelona's 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final last month.

However, the former Arsenal midfielder has had a scan on the injury, which the Spanish soccer federation (RFEF) said showed "very satisfactory results".

Fabregas himself took to Twitter to give an update on his situation, saying: "Medical tests have been successful, very happy with the evolution."

The Barcelona midfielder will train separately from the rest of the squad as he searches for full fitness in time for the match against Italy.

Fabregas and his Barcelona teammates joined up with the Spain squad on Friday, as did Bilbao duo Fernando Llorente and Javi Martinez.
