Gerardo Martino slams Barcelona officials

Former Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino slams the club's hierarchy for a perceived lack of knowledge about him and his methods.

Former Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino has claimed that the club's officials knew little about him, despite employing him.

The South American lasted just one season at Camp Nou after being replaced by Luis Enrique, and the ex-coach slammed the hierarchy for their lack of knowledge about him and his methods.

"I was surprised by how little they knew about me at Barcelona," he told La Nacion. "You can accept that from a supermarket cashier - but not from someone who works in football.

"It felt like I was constantly being watched over because of some things that went on and others that didn't.

"But it's unthinkable not to feel guilty when you join a club that is a winning machine and then it stops winning, and you're the only new face around."

Barca are currently top of La Liga.
