Luis Suarez: Barcelona debut "a big relief"

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez admits that it was "a big relief" to make his debut during the El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid, over three months after joining the club.

Luis Suarez has said that it was "a big relief" to make his debut for Barcelona over three months after completing his move to the club.

The Uruguay international, who was forced to serve an international football ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, started yesterday's El Clasico with Real Madrid and provided the assist for Neymar's opening goal in the 3-1 defeat.

The 27-year-old told Canal Plus: "It was a big relief. I'm very happy with the minutes I had. I have a bittersweet sensation because of the result but this team has picked itself up before many times.

"I felt really good. I have been training for a long time with this game in mind and so when the coach made the decision I was in the right shape to play."

Suarez made a £75m move to the Camp Nou from Liverpool this summer.
