Barcelona 'set for summer overhaul'

Barcelona are set for a summer overhaul with only Lionel Messi, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Frenkie de Jong safe at the club, according to a report.

Lionel Messi is reportedly one of only three players safe at Barcelona this summer as the Spanish champions prepare to overhaul their squad ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

The Catalan giants continue to be linked with moves for Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar as the summer transfer window draws closer.

According to ESPN, Barca are still expected to make signings despite the coronavirus outbreak but 'player exchanges' rather than substantial spending could be on the agenda.

The report claims that Messi, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Frenkie de Jong are the only three players currently safe at Camp Nou ahead of next season, meaning that they will not be part of any negotiations.

Quique Setien's side are said to be keen to sign an attacker, a right-back, a centre-back and a central midfielder during this summer's transfer window, but the La Liga giants will have to trim their squad before bringing new players through the door.

Barca have already secured deals for two new players ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, though, with both 20-year-old forward Francisco Trincao and 17-year-old midfielder Pedri due to arrive at the club.
