Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri and Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic are reportedly in direct contact over a return to Turin for the Bosnian midfielder.

Barcelona outcast Miralem Pjanic is reportedly in contact with Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri over a return to the Allianz Stadium.

The Bosnian midfielder arrived at Camp Nou last year in a swap deal which saw Arthur head in the other direction, but that deal has not worked out well for either party.

Pjanic was handed just six La Liga starts under Ronald Koeman last term and was an unused substitute in 17 top-flight games, so he is widely expected to end his nightmare stint with Barca this summer.

The 31-year-old enjoyed a good relationship with Allegri during the latter's first stint in the Juventus dugout, and Calciomercato now claims that the pair are in direct contact over a return to Turin.

The report adds that Allegri is very keen to reunite with a player who already has plenty of experience in Italy's top flight, but Barca would have to lower their asking price of €60m (£51.5m) for the midfielder.

Pjanic scored 22 goals and assisted 41 more in 178 appearances during his first spell at Juventus, winning four Scudettos and two Coppa Italia titles in that time.
