Goalless between Bastia, Marseille

Bastia and Marseille cancel each other out and settle for a point apiece in Ligue 1.

Bastia and Marseille have played out a goalless draw in Ligue 1.

The home side had the first chance of the match but Sebastien Squillaci's header was superbly saved by Steve Mandanda in the Marseille goal.

Marseille's Florian Thauvin then created an opening for Jordan Ayew with a run and cross down the left, but the striker's effort was blocked.

Bastia went close again when Claudiu Keseru played in Ilan Aruajo Dall'lgna, but the striker placed his shot wide.

Wahbi Khazri thought that he had won a penalty for Bastia but, after forcing Mandanda into another save, he fell under a challenge when trying to reach the ball and the referee waved away his appeals.

Mandanda was in action again soon after, tipping over Keseru's free kick.

The first opening after the break again fell to Bastia. Milos Krasic made his way to the byline and pulled the ball back into the box; however, only Romaric on the edge of the area could reach it, and his shot flew over.

The match entered a bit of a lull after that, with neither team able to break the deadlock.

However, Mathieu Valbuena did his best to inject some life into it with a curling cross that found Lucas Mendes, but the latter's header was saved by Mickael Landreau.
