Ten-man Bastia edge out Lorient

Bastia take a 2-1 win over Lorient, despite Anthony Modeste's early red card.

Ten-man Bastia have edged out Lorient in an entertaining encounter in Ligue 1.

Wahbi Khazri forced Fabien Audard into an early save, but the effort was not good enough to beat the away goalkeeper.

Anthony Modeste missed the target in the 10th minute but in the 12th he put the home side ahead.

Modeste went from hero to zero just a minute later as he was shown a straight red for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Just after the half-hour mark Lorient were level, Alain Traore crossing for Lamine Kone to nod in.

They weren't level for long, however, as Khazri restored 10-man Bastia's lead, 10 minutes before the referee blew for half-time.

Florian Thauvin and Toifilou Maoulida both went close for the home side as the game went on and Lorient could not find an equaliser as Bastia took all three points.
