Pep Guardiola: 'Bayern Munich played brilliantly'

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola says that his side played "brilliantly" in their 7-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola has said that his Bayern Munich side played "brilliantly" in their Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

After a goalless first leg, the German champions beat the Ukrainian side 7-0 at the Allianz Arena this evening to book their place in the quarter-finals.

The manager said at his post-match press conference: "Congratulations to my team. We will play in the quarter-finals, that is what we expected and what we wanted. That was the first time in my career that I played five forwards in an important game.

"We saw from the off that the team was up for it. They played brilliantly. The game was over after 90 minutes, not after four. But of course we did play very, very well. But the Champions League is always very difficult to play.

"I know Donetsk very well. They have an outstanding team. It was little easier as we were playing 11 against 10 for a long time. They did not have one really good chance."

The visitors had a player sent off just three minutes into the tie.
