Bastian Schweinsteiger: Chelsea loss gives "added motivation"

Bastian Schweinsteiger claims that losing to Chelsea in last season's Champions League final has made them more determined this time around.

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has said that losing the Champions League final last season has given his side "added motivation" to win the competition this term.

The German club lost 4-3 on penalties to Chelsea at their own Allianz Arena despite taking the lead through Thomas Muller in the 83rd minute.

"Of course I still think about it, because it was almost a home game for us," Schweinsteiger told UEFA.com reflecting on the match.

"The stage was all set for us to win, and the defeat just shouldn't have happened. You try to come to terms with it but it's not easy, because the match is still too present in my mind. But it also acts as added motivation this season."

Bayern will take on Juventus in the quarter-finals of the competition this season.
