How Bayern Munich could line up against Freiburg

Sports Mole looks at how Bayern Munich could line up on their return to Bundesliga action against Freiburg.

Bayern Munich resume their Bundesliga campaign on Saturday afternoon with a trip to mid-table Freiburg.

The reigning German champions sit ahead of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table by virtue of their superior goal difference.

Bayern head into the match on the back of a good run of league form, and they have lost just one of their last 15 matches away to Freiburg.

Ahead of this weekend's clash at the Schwarzwald-Stadion, Sports Mole looks at how Niko Kovac could set out his side.

Possible BAY XI vs. FRE

Out: Corentin Tolisso, Arjen Robben, Alphonso Davies
Doubtful: None

Bayern were well represented during the international break in terms of the number of players competing for their country across the world, though Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels were all recently axed from the Germany squad and will be fully refreshed.

Joshua Kimmich played in both of Germany's matches, being used in a central-midfield role by Joachim Low, but he should be restored to his more familiar position at right-back this weekend.

Kovac has a decision to make alongside Kimmich as Niklas Sule, Boateng and Hummels have been rotated and are battling it out for two spots.

Out wide, meanwhile, Serge Gnabry has performed well this term but may be given a breather ahead of next weekend's showdown with Dortmund.

James Rodriguez is a candidate to start just off Robert Lewandowski, two weeks on from scoring his first hat-trick since 2011 in his side's 6-0 thrashing of Mainz 05.
