Mehdi Benatia facing stint on sidelines

A hamstring injury is likely to keep Bayern Munich centre-back Mehdi Benatia out for a number of weeks.

Bayern Munich have confirmed that Mehdi Benatia will be out of action for the next few weeks.

The centre-back suffered a hamstring injury during the first half of Saturday's 2-1 victory away at Hoffenheim.

According to the club's official website, the 28-year-old was assessed upon the squad's return to Munich, where it was revealed that he had strained the muscle.

Benatia joined the Bavarians from Roma last summer, but injuries and a loss of form limited him to just 24 appearances in all competitions throughout the 2014-15 campaign.
