Bastian Schweinsteiger remains out for Bayern Munich with knee trouble

Bayern Munich will have to continue to do without midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger as the German World Cup winner looks to rest a troublesome knee problem.

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger will remain out of action for the foreseeable future as he continues to recover from knee trouble.

Schweinsteiger was an influential player during Munich's romp to the title last season, with the anchorman also featured prominently in Germany's World Cup-winning side this summer in Brazil.

"At the moment all Bastian is doing is resting," Bayern manager Pep Guardiola told reporters.

"He played despite carrying injuries last season, even in Brazil."

Munich received more worrying news on Wednesday as Javi Martinez picked up a long-term injury during their Supercup defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
