Team News: Bastian Schweinsteiger back for Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich vice-captain Bastian Schweinsteiger returns to the starting lineup, with Philipp Lahm continuing in the holding midfield role.

Fit-again vice-captain Bastian Schweinsteiger has been restored to the Bayern Munich starting lineup by coach Pep Guardiola for the trip to Schalke 04.

Schweinsteiger came on as a late substitute in the Champions League in their 3-0 win over CSKA Moscow, but is now fit enough to return to the first XI.

He will partner Toni Kroos in midfielder, while captain Philipp Lahm is once again in the midfield anchor role, with Rafinha continuing at right-back.

For the hosts there is still no Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, which means that Adam Szalai stays up front with Kevin-Prince Boateng playing off him.

Schalke: Hildebrand; Uchida, Howedes, Matip, Aogo; Jones, Neustadter; Farfan, Boateng, Draxler; Szalai

Bayern: Neuer; Rafinha, Boateng, Dante, Alaba; Lahm; Robben, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Ribery; Mandzukic
